Position:      Aide Elementary - Linden               

                                                             

Qualifications:

  •   Applicants must be a high school graduate or have GED
  •   Bilingual required
  •   Must have strong desire to work with children in a caring manner
  •   Ability to work effectively with staff and student
  •   Must have 2 years college or ability to pass the Work Keys exam

 

Salary:     $9.41 - $10.57 per hour depending on experience

                 $10.57 - $11.89 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish) depending on experience

 

Employment:    6 hrs per day, school year

                                   

Position Available:    November 2017

 

Reports To:    Building Administrator

DEPARTMENT:

Instructional Support

   

JOB TITLE:

Aide - Elementary

   

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A. Education Level:

- Effective July 2010 for all new hires or transfers - Must have completed two years of study at an institution of higher education, or obtained an associate's degree or passed a state approved assessment .

B. Certification/Licensure:

- None Required

- First Aid/CPR certificate preferred

C. Experience Desired:

- Some experience working with children in an educational

setting.

D. Other Requirements:

- Have an interest in young people and an ability to deal fairly

and tactfully with students.

- Possess a positive attitude toward education and a helpful

attitude toward people.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

with students, faculty and staff.

- Ability to carry out assignment in effective support of the

instructional program.

   

REPORTS TO:

- Building Administrator and the assigned faculty member.

   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 
   

Basic:

- Work involves performing paraprofessional tasks in support of classroom instruction, classroom activities and buiding activities. Work may involve the limited instruction and supervision of students under direction of a faculty member or Principal. Work

also may require duties of a clerical nature and supervision of non-classroom areas such as cafeteria, playground and other areas of the campus. Assignments are received orally and/or in writing from faculty members and/or the Principal.

   

Frequent:

1. Assist with the classroom preparation and clean up.

2. Attends to the physical needs of younger students and accounts for articles brought to school by children.

3. Assist faculty member with copying of materials, organizing instructional materials, etc.

4. Supervise students on grounds, cafeteria, playground and other areas in and around the school building(s). Maintains order.

4. Assist with the clean up of small spills and messes

5. Perform related work as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory): Skills in human relations and in oral and written communication as well as skills in working with adults and children. Also need visual and auditory acuity.

         

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

A. Inside Outside Both: Both

         

B. Climatic Environment: Work environment is heated/air conditioned, however some facilities may not be air conditioned. When outdoors, whatever the weather conditions dictate.
