Compensation:   Per Salary Schedule plus extended days and year

JOB TITLE:

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

   

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A. Education Level:

Master's Degree with a minimum of 60 Graduate Hours, Ed.S. preferred.

B. Certification/Licensure:

Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in School Psychology, or

Nebraska Special Services Certificate with endorsement in the area of School Psychology

C. Experience Desired:

Successful Teaching and or Counseling Experience

D. Other Requirements:

The school psychologist's responsibilities require coordination and assistance with the various teachers, principals, supervisors, and administrators. This coordination and assistance shall be consistent with policies adopted by the Board of Education. The school psychologist shall work with students, teachers, and parents with the approval of the building administrator and the Executive Director of Student Services.

   

REPORTS TO:

Executive Director of Student Services

   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 
   

Basic:

To provide diagnostic evaluation/observation and input for the support of the students' education, for Student Services, and the school district.

   

Frequent:

1. Evaluate individual students and verifiy disabilities under

IDEA and Sec. 504/ADA.

2. Participate as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team and provide psychological and educational evaluations as appropriate.

3. Provide support in IEP development by:

a. Providing psycho-educational data and interpretation,

b. Assisting in developing behavioral management and learning programs.

c. Consulting with teachers, support personnel, and parents in working with handicapped students.

4. Function as a member of staffing teams (e.g. Student Assistance Team, I.E.P, M.D.T.) by providing evaluation information, educational needs, placement recommendations and alternatives.

5. Provide assistance to school and support personnel in screening of students to identify children who should be referred for individual evaluation.

6. Provide additional individual support to students, parents, school, and support personnel as appropriate.

7. Perform other duties and functions as requested by the Executive Director of Student Services.

B. Climatic Environment: Primary work environment is a heated, non-air conditioned classroom or building; in some cases, classroom may be air conditioned.
