Compensation:     Per Salary Schedule

 

Employment:    2019/2020 School Year, Start July 2019

 

Reports To:    Executive Director of Elementary Operations

JOB TITLE:

Elementary Principal

   

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A. Education Level:

-Master’s Degree

B. Certification/Licensure:

-Nebraska Administrative and Supervisory Certificate with

Elementary Level Endorsement.

C. Experience Desired:

-Minimum of three successful years teaching (elementary

level desired).

-Successful administrative and supervisory experience

desired.

D. Other Requirements:

-Twelve month work year.

-Possess excellent human relations skills.

-Knowledge of District Board policy.

-Abilityto function in a highly professional manner.

-Willingness to continue to expand knowledge and expertise.

-Possess excellent organizational skills.

   

REPORTS TO:

-Superintendent, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and the Director of Elementary Administration and Operations as determined by the Superintendent.

   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 
   

Basic:

-Provide direct supervision and management of elementary building(s); i.e. all teachers, staff (certificated and classified), pupils, custodians, and any other personnel involved in the daily operation of the assigned elementary building(s).

   

Frequent:

1. Supervise instruction in all elementary subject areas in assigned building.

2. Supervise and evaluate total staff performance (teachers, aides, specialists, etc.).

3. Supervise and maintain an acceptable standard of behavior in students.

4. Responsible for determining student suspension from school according to Board policy and Nebraska Statute.

5. Provide orientation for staff members assigned to building.

6. Supervise the general upkeep of school building(s) and grounds.

7. Maintain equipment, supplies and appropriate inventories.

8. Plan, schedule, and conduct staff meetings as needed.

9. Maintain up-to-date student records; provide for student safety, for positive climate in the building, for collection of funds, for cafeteria supervision, for assignment of students to classrooms, for implementation of the District and building goals and objectives, and for coordinating school activities and programs.

10. Responsible for developing budget plans for assigned building(s).

11. Be the educational leader within the building, and coordinate special programs.

12. Serve as coordinator of a K-6 curriculum area and serve as a representative on a K-12 curriculum area.

13. Ensure guidance and counseling service is available to students and parents, and provide personal and professional guidance to staff members.

14. Be aware of resources that are available to ensure proper professional help for individuals.

15. Assist in being responsible for K-6 testing program and assist in the coordination of staffing procedures for special needs of pupils.

16. Assist in developing in-service programs, both at the building level and District level.

17. Responsible for grade meetings, for interpreting curriculum and District policies, and for public relations as it concerns assigned building.

18. Coordinate Parent/Teacher Conferences.

19. Responsible for authorizing, scheduling, and implementation of student participation in the food service program; for the operation of the busing program within the building when applicable; for coordinating and implementing elementary after-school athletic program (if applicable); and for in-house substitution for emergency purposes.

20. Perform other duties as assigned.
