Position: Office Associate - High School
Job Responsibilities/Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED
- Must possess organizational skills, have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and ability to work effectively with staff and students
- Must be a self starter and work independently
- Bilingual preferred but not required
Employment: 10 1/2 months, 8 hrs per day
Salary: $16.00 - $17.19 starting, per hour depending on experience;
$17.19 - $18.79 per hour depending on experience if bilingual (Spanish/English)
$22.78 - $23.58 for bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants who successfully pass FPS screening for Building-Level translation and interpreting evaluations.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level:
- High School Diploma
- Post Secondary training is desired, especially if related to job
Certification/Licensure:
- None required. First Aid/CPR certificate desired
Experience Desired:
- Some experience in general clerical and secretarial work
Other Requirements:
- Effective oral and written communication skills, knowledge of business English, spelling, and math
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Skill in operation of standard office equipment (i.e. computer literacy with keyboarding skills)
- Ability to make computations and tabulations with speed and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents and visitors
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment and filing systems
- Ability to learn and apply policies, procedures and services of the function to which assigned
- Ability to keep moderately complex records, to assemble and organize data and to prepare reports from the records kept and data compiled
REPORTS TO: Building administrator or designated supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.
Basic:
- Work involves performance of varied clerical and secretarial duties which involve some independent judgement based on knowledge gained through experience. Many procedures will be developed by the person and independently carried out until work is completed. Supervision may be exercised over student helpers. Operation of an alphanumeric keyboard is an integral part of the essential functions of this job.
Frequent:
- Demonstrates the ability and willingness to perform and fulfill assigned duties as designed by the supervisor
- Types letters, memoranda, reports, purchase orders, minutes of meetings, teacher evaluations and examinations, working rough drafts, recorded dictation, verbal instructions, or established procedures
- Maintains filing systems and financial records and reports; compiles information and statistics for use in reports and budget preparation; orders, maintains and distributes supplies and materials; maintains ledger making entries and distribution costs to accounts
- Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors; assists students, faculty, and the public atg the front desk or counter; answers questions or refers to appropriate parties; arranges and schedules meetings as requested; assists with student registration
- Operates photocopying machines to duplicate tests, reports, and other documents; prepared materials for distribution
- Assembles student records relating to attendance and discipline; receives and places telephone calls regarding student absences; enters daily attendance information into computer file and prepares report
- May assist students with information and materials; answer questions regarding college information, and maintain college reference materials
- May supervise student aides and monitor student behavior in a study hall and cafeteria.
- Performs other work as assigned by supervisor
