5. CNA, CMA, or LPN preferred but not required
Salary: $19.13 - $20.99 per hour, starting, depending on experience.
If bilingual (English/Spanish) $20.99 - 22.64 per hour, starting, depending on experience.
Employment: 7.5 hrs per day, during school year.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Post Secondary training is desired
Certification/Licensure:
- Drivers License
- CNA, CMA, or LPN preferred, but not required
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate preferred, but not required
Experience Desired:
- Working with children/students, faculty, and staff
- Experience in medical or care giving settings is highly desirable
Other Requirements:
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of basic reading and math skills
- Successful completion of District training and competencies.
REPORTS TO: Teacher(s), School Nurse, Building Administrator, and Director of Special Education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.
Basic:
- Perform classroom support duties under supervision and guidance of classroom teachers and perform health/medical care procedures under the supervision of an R.N. Dispenses medication, provides necessary medical/health care including but not limited to suctioning, tube feeding, decompressing, and cleaning catheterization. Supervises students on grounds and other areas of school building, and school-sponsored activities. Abides by the guidelines established for paraeducators of the State of Nebraska and the District.
Frequent:
- Demonstrates the ability and willingness to perform and fulfill assigned duties as designated by the supervising teacher
- Assists the supervising teacher in the collection and preparation of instructional material and equipment
- Assists with the evaluation, monitoring, and supervision of students’ work.
- Assists students in performing activities initiated by the supervising teacher.
- Prepares instructional aids, games, and bulletin boards at the discretion of the supervising teacher.
- Implements behavior management and modification techniques as structured and monitored by the supervising teacher for individual students.
- Assists with various classroom clerical and daily organizational duties.
- Attends professional development meetings and workshops for paraeducators.
- Respects the confidentiality of information about students and communicates progress or concerns about students to parents or staff only with the authorization of the supervising teacher.
- Exhibits a positive working relationship with students and staff.
- Follows all rules and regulations relating to school and district policies.
- Assists with the physical and health needs of students including but not limited to: feeding, toileting, transferring, positioning, medication administration, tube feedings, urinary catheterization, and other special health and personal care needs when applicable, under the direction/training of the school nurse.
- Assists in the provision of physical and occupational therapy exercises for students under the supervision and/or direction of OT and/or PT
- Assists in the loading and unloading of students from vehicles as needed, and supervises students while being transported by district vehicles as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, school nurse, and/or administrative staff.
