Salary:     $17.08 - $18.63 starting, per hour, depending on experience.

                If bilingual (English/Spanish), rate is $18.63 - $20.42 per hour, depending on experience

 

Employment:     7.5  hrs per day, school year

                                   

Position Available:    August 2025

JOB TITLE: Credit Recovery Paraeducator

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Post Secondary training is desired

Certification/Licensure:

  • None required
  • First Aid/CPR certificate desired

Experience Desired:

  • Some experience working with children in an educational setting
  • Some technology experience/skills

Other Requirements:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Have an interest in young people and an ability to deal fairly and tactfully with students
  • Possess a positive attitude toward education and a helpful attitude toward people
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administration, and faculty
  • A good working knowledge of core area subject matter and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to carry out assignment in effective support of the instructional program

 

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator, Special Education Department Chairperson

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.

 

Basic:

  • Organize and manage the daily operation of the Credit Recovery program. 
  • Monitor students in a highly structured educational environment. Students work with the Credit Recovery Paraeducator to complete online course work in an attempt to recover lost credits and be on track for graduation.

 

Frequent:

  • Directly supervises assigned students by monitoring their online academic assignments and behavior
  • Tutors students in areas of learning not understood and assists students in managing their time so that all assignments are completed within the assigned time limits
  • Enforces established rules of conduct in the Credit Recovery room
  • Maintains student information and statistics for a Credit Recovery Summary report at the end of each quarter
  • When no students are assigned to Credit Recovery, is on call to assist in supervisory areas as assigned by the Special Education Department Chairperson/Building Administrator
  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to perform and fulfill assigned duties as designated by the Special Education Department Chairperson/Building Administrator.
  • Assists with the evaluation, monitoring, and supervision of students’ work
  • Assists students in performing activities initiated by the school counselors, Special Education Department Chairperson/Building Administrator 
  • Attends professional development meetings and workshops for paraeducators.
  • Respects the confidentiality of information about students and communicates progress or concerns about students to parents or staff only with the authorization of the Special Education Department Chairperson/Building Administrator
  • Exhibits a positive working relationship with students and staff.
  • Follows all rules and regulations relating to school and district policies.
  • Other related duties which may be assigned by the Special Education Department Chairperson/Building Administrator

Climatic Environment:    Primary work environment is heated/non-air-conditioned classroom/building, and at times, work environment will include off-campus sites. (Certain classrooms/buildings may not be air-conditioned)

 

Hazards:  Communicable diseases, classroom, building, furniture, and off-campus sites and equipment, frequent lifting.
